carrie bradshaw moment + styling Tulle for fall

Today, my blogger BFF Rhea of rheaetcetera.com and I  decided to do something  fun and share with y’all our take on the Tulle skirt. We never talked about what our outfits look like or how we styled them but I loved how it turned out when I saw our pictures side by side! The contrast between Rhea’s beautifully styled ultra-feminine, dreamy pastel-colored tulle and my darker ensemble made this little collaboration of ours perfect.  Head on over to Rhea’s blog at rheaetcetera.com to see how she styled her Tulle skirt!

Admit it, we’ve all had our fair share of envisioning  ourselves wearing a tutu since the day we’ve laid eyes on Carrie’s pink tutu from Sex and the city.  Okay, maybe not a tutu but doesn’t that TV show just make you want it too? Hahaha, maybe not but I’ve gotten myself one around 2 years back but when I brought it home, hubby was laughing at it!! I know he doesn’t know squat about tulle skirts but I ended up returning it anyway. I still wanted to rock one though so when I saw this navy number at a consignment store, decided to take it home because 1) it was a great deal  2) I thought since it is a darker color, I can pull it off better with no laughing spouse in the background and  3) if I ended looking like a Disney character, I wouldn’t feel so bad about this purchase.  As it turns out, it didn’t look too bad! Infact, I think it is rather cute without looking overly sweet. This is probably how I want my Carrie Bradshaw (SATC opening credits) moment to look like. J

jumpsuit + style to inspire link-up co-host!

A little late to the summer jumpsuit craze but I honestly, believe it or not, got this jumpsuit in late Winter, while it was on sale for being last season’s. I got it online, NOT in my size (not even close) but I figured what the heck, I have never owned a jumpsuit in my life and I had a bad feeling about it as with every jumpsuit that I have tried on. These things, I realized, could look disastrous on a nearly 5’11 long torso-ed and long legged person/woman/giantess if it weren’t tailored for that specific body type. But this being black, an itty-bitty part of my brain was thinking maybe I can make this work. Just like my dress before this post, I surprisingly liked it. Not crazy in love with it but enough to convince myself to venture out and possibly try on different styles. If you are a skeptic on these, give it a try as I did on this one. I mindlessly threw this jacket on just to see how it looks and voila, works like a charm! Or at least in my not-so-expert opinion. Hahaha!
Thank you so much for reading and see you on my next post!

take me back to hawaii

I got this dress a few weeks after a trip to Hawaii in late March for my sister in law’s wedding.  We had such a great time but it was such a short vacation that I felt like I would’ve loved to stay longer, as with any  tropical getaway… nobody ever wants to leave! Back in the real world (which is Seattle lol), I happen to see this dress as I was leaving HM and for some crazy reason, it screamed “take me back to the Islands with you!”  Such a trendy mirror print dress but with how cheap it was, I couldn’t leave it behind.  Didn’t bother trying it on, i just took my “hawaiian” dress home with me, tried it on and then love ensued. Lol, okay that might have been a little dramatic  but I did surprisingly end up loving this impulse purchase on me! Don't we ladies just get excited when that happens?!!
Thank you so much for reading and see you on my next post!

lace shorts

Shorts are a rarity in my closet as I much prefer dresses over them during the summer but I decided to go for these because I couldn’t stop looking at them and kept taking them back with me to the fitting room! So I finally decided to pull the trigger with the idea that I would walk around the house in them for a few hours and see how I feel. Well, it turned out that I have almost completely forgotten about them as they have been sitting in my closet for over a month now. Time to bust these babies out, I guess.  I’m not entirely smitten with these but too late to return hahaha, the good thing about them is that they are black which are easy to style. I decided to go the black and white route as it makes them less casual than what shorts normally are and I’m quite happy with the turnout.  In case you are wondering, I threw in that random photo in the very end of me wearing flats, I initially wore flats with them but decided I wanted to dress it up a bit with a nicer looking heel.  Either way, this outfit is idiot proof--- no thinking required!

maxi dress

Who seriously doesn’t love the already-a-classic maxi dress for the summer? I know some of you are probably screaming in protest that noooo, these don’t ever look good on you but trust me when I say that there is a maxi dress out there for all of us… the optimist  in me believes this, hahaha! This hot weather staple has been around for a few summers now and I know that a lot of us felt that this was one hard style to pull off if you didn’t have the height for it but as our summers progressed, I have found (and seen) that the trick is finding THE perfect one for your body type.  I can confidently say that I have seen a maxi dress on almost all shapes and sizes and I am happy to share  that majority of the time, I have not been disappointed.  So believe me when I say that you look good in it!!

Thank you so much for reading and see you on my next post!

tuxedo jacket

Breaking away from all those overly feminine outfits I have been posting recently… way.too.girly ... it's killing me! Hahaha, who am I kidding, I love skirts and dresses so much, they practically make up my entire spring/summer closet. My cousin and I took these photos in the end of spring, hence the jacket.  It wasn’t quite 80 degrees (like it is now!) back then so this was just perfect.  I love the colors on this jacket so much that it needed to make an appearance on a blog post. My outfit preferences on certain days are very mood-dependent, and on some days, my no-brainer outfit is a trusty pair of skinnies and a nice jacket or blazer.  Grab and go as I would like to call it. I'm out of the door in, say, an hour? Hahaha, an hour definitely isn’t the definition of grab and go but you guys get the picture! Have you guys thought of what your go-to outfit is on lazy days?
To everyone residing in the states, HAVE A HAPPY and SAFE 4th of July!!!

almost summer

Seattle has been quite the moody one lately.  It can’t seem to make up it’s mind on what it wants to be, chilly  in the morning so you bundle up somewhat, but as soon as you step out of your building at the end of a work day, you realize that you are inappropriately dressed for what the weather has turned out to be… oh well! Lol. Nevertheless, summer is next week and we all just need to bust out those sweet, summery colors. One of my favorite things about the sun being out is being able to wear skirts and dresses again and the feeling of satisfaction when heavy winter clothes are finally being stashed away! So here is the beginning of my hopefully color-filled and vibrant summer. Wait.. on second thought, I don’t wanna be ripped for wearing black with my fun skirt, so scratch that idea! I’ll begin when it really starts to legitimately feel like summer around here. J

office appropriate

I had worn this outfit to work, unsure of whether my cousin and I were going to be able to shoot at the end of the day. We decided at the last minute that we would, and since I always have a pair (or two J ) of heels stashed in the trunk of my car, I told myself “why not?” and decided to just go ahead and shoot what I had worn to work that day. For years, I have always separated clothes/outfits  that I decided were appropriate for work from the ones I would wear on a casual/fun /dressier occasions.  Since the more “fun” clothes were strategically placed in the deep recesses (okay, maybe not even deep at all lol) of my closet, I never get to see them when I am running around like a headless chicken EVERY single morning. One day, I decided that maybe I should stop with labeling which articles are for what occasion and just get the heck dressed, look appropriate for work and be on time!!!  So if you are the same way as I am and stuck in an office wardrobe rut, take a less boring piece from your more “fun” clothes and find yourself  MAYBE smiling more for the rest of the day  … or not, lol!
